The Meaning of
"La Roche d'Or" (The Golden Rock)!
In appreciation of its surrounding heritage, The Camping "La Roche d'Or" got its name through the gold-rush which took place along the river close-by.
The Camping La Roche d'Or is located precisely where, at the turn of the century, a large number of gold-digger adventures got together with pans and hammers hoping to make a fortune. As a matter of fact, the largest gold-nugget ever found in Canada was discovered in the river bordering the dreamlike camp-site: The McDonald nugget weighing 1280 gram!

To pay tribute to this unusual story the logo symbolizing a jovial gold-digger of that
era, rightfully conjures up adventure, freedom, the great outdoors as well as a genuine
feeling of escape. Isn't that what camping is all about?
Even today, young and old can have fun looking for gold nuggets in
the Gilbert river bordering the Camping.
