HISTORY
Smelts, or Tommy cod fishing, was discoverd quite by accident. The presence of that species in the Ste-Anne river was only discovered in 1938. One day, a local inhabitant was sawing some ice blocks for ice boxes (our fridge's ancestor) used in those days, when he noticed some fish froliking on the sandy bottom and that sparked the big adventure! |
Several people built some cabins and the Perade fish became a local topic, quickly spreading to more distant locations. Since the roads were closed during the winter, people started coming from everywhere via the Canadian Pacific railroad system. The reception was rather outlandish and some visitors were even picked up on horse-drawn sleighs. |

The pourvoirie G. Marceau & Filles (outfitters) was founded in 1960 by the present owner, Guy Marceau, who already had a lot of experience in this field. During all these years, he has endeavoured to install comfortable and secure cabins in order to offer optimal fishing conditions.
