For the Vacations you Always Dreamed About…

Wide open spaces and excessiveness! Forests as far as the eye can see, lakes and rivers abundant with fish, islands wonderful and remarkable, disproportionate achievements such as the gigantic hydro dams, sea mammals (blue whale, minke whale, beluga whale, humpback whale, seal) that haunt the St.Lawrence River year after year, this same river where, sometimes, you can witness the solemn passing of an iceberg that ripped itself from an arctic glacier. You can follow the footsteps of the pioneers as they unveiled nature at its purest, and discover amerindian villages, making contact with an amazing culture through the way of life and the handicrafts of the native people. Bird lovers, hikers, kayakers and scuba divers alike are invited to come up and tame the Côte-Nord.

Cote-Nord The Côte-Nord is one of the largest territories in Quebec, covering the Eastern most of the province, North of the St.Lawrence river, from Tadoussac to Blanc-Sablon, including the Anticosti Island.

The Côte-Nord is forever a land of contrasts, for its geography as well as for the origins of its inhabitants. Initially populated by the Innus (also known as Montagnais), the shores of the Côte-Nord were visited by the Vikings and the Basques well before the French came by.

Still a wild country for a vast part of its territory, the Côte-Nord is rich with 400 years of history, originally rooted in the coastal life to migrate most recently
towards the exploitation of its Back Country’s natural resources (forests, mines and hydroelectricity).

When you visit the Côte-Nord, you are immediately taken by the grandeur of the landscape of this impressing nature. But the Côte-Nord is much more than a forest and coastal region, so much more than a hunting kingdom and a salmon fishing paradise. From Tadoussac to Blanc-Sablon, all along the winding road they call the Whale Route, whatever the season, numbers of picturesque cities and villages will greet you with myriads of activities.

Crossed on its whole length by road 138, which winds up alongside the St.Lawrence River, the region is also accessible by many ferry crossings.

  • Tadoussac – Baie-Sainte-Catherine (Charlevoix)
  • Escoumins – Trois-Pistoles (Bas Saint-Laurent)
  • Forestville – Rimouski (Bas Saint-Laurent)
  • Baie-Comeau – Matane – Godbout (Gaspésie)
  • Woodward – MS Apollo (Blanc-Sablon – Ste-Barbe, Terre-Neuve)

Visiting the Côte-Nord in any season is always a unique experience, a complete change of scenery for an uncompromising escape.

The region comprises two distinctive sectors: Manicouagan and Duplessis, and each offers specific attractions.
