Sainte-Marie de Beauce
Sainte-Marie de Beauce is the entry point of Beauce, via 73 highway from Quebec. It's an industrial city and homes the "Petits Gâteaux Vachon" Museum. It's also one of the oldest cities of the Beauce and the homestead of the Taschereau family, which has provided Québec with many of its most notable citizens, including Elzéar-Alexandre Taschereau, Canada's first bishop, and Louis-Alexandre Taschereau, premier of Quebec from 1920 to 1936. As you enter the city, the Sainte-Anne chapel (1892) and the impressive estate of Seignior Taschereau (1809) are worth the detour. Also be sure to visit Sainte-Marie church (1856) in the heart of town, designed byfamous architect Charles Baillargé.
