| The Monteregie is bordered to the North by the Saint-Lawrence River and the Island of Montreal; to the East by the tourist region of Eastern Townships and the Centre du Quebec; to the South by the United-States and to the West by Ontario and the tourist region of Outaouais. Five bridges and a tunnel link the Monteregie to the island of Montreal. Monteregie is subdivided into six tourist sub-regions due to the size of the territory. |

The region is also the host to an important festival of hot-air balloons and to the Valleyfield international speed boat race. |
Military History
An important page of history occured in this region, more precisely in La Vallée du Richelieu or «Vallée des forts». You will discover a series of fortifications built by the British and French settlers. |
| Fort-Chambly is spectacular. It was built in 1665 to ensure the protection of Montreal against Iroquois attacks.
